WEEK TWO - POST TWO

The current understanding of gravity is something that is based off developments that occurred exclusively withing the last 500 years. With Galileo's experiment; dropping two objects from the same height at the top of the tower with differing weights marked a new understanding of gravity for science. The experiment showed that mass does not impact the speed at which objects fall. This factor comes into play with pendulums as well. The mass of the weight on the end of the tether does not impact how fast or slow the oscillation period is. The length of the tether decides the speed of the swing. These discoveries may seem small, yet they have greatly furthered our understanding of physics, which in turn broadens our view of the universe.
As small yet significant discoveries in physics expanded our view of physics and gravity, our understanding of the universe expanded parallel alongside. This connects the overarching idea of this course so far; our understanding of reality and the universe changes alongside that of science and technology.

  1. Have you taken physics? Can you explain how weight is not a factor?

    1. I have not taken physics yet. Weight isn't a factor simply due to it being the way gravity works. Science may explain how things are, but not why.
