WEEK FIVE-POST TWO

Einstein discovered that the speed of light is constant due to it not being affected in the eye of the observer when inertia is applied the source of the light. Even though we know how these things happen, we still cannot explain why. For example, we cannot prove why the speed of light is constant nor why it is the speed it is. This a fact scientists have to come to terms with. Einstein also discovered the effects an object undergoes when traveling at the speed of light. Its observable length is shortened, the object's time slows down, and the overall mass of the object increases. These discoveries challenge the previous widely accepted as fact set of Newtonian Laws.

The success of Einstein's special theory of relativity tells us, once again, that reality is stranger than fiction and that scientists are constructing a narrative to describe what we can see of nature. This narrative is always changing as our vision of the world improves through our instruments and our observationsbut we must always keep in mind that there is no final chapter in this book.

  1. Who else has or is studying Einstein's work on relativity? Modern day connections?

    1. The theory of relativity is considered to be reality the same way Newtonian Law had been up until Einstein, so there is an acceptance in the science community that doesn't require further research.
