WEEK SIX-POST TWO

Acceleration can mimic gravity. Acceleration upwards can increase the feeling gravity will descending can decrease gravity. This is called the Principle of Equivalence, the equivalence of gravity and accelerated motion. Einstein thought that acceleration also had to be a theory of gravity and stated matter bends space. When a heavy object in space attracts a smaller object, it is due to the heavier object bending space. Therefore, the smaller object is attracted to it, almost as if on a downward slope on a flat surface. Gravity on a universal scale is observable on a basic scale and then can be translated in one's mind to planetary gravity and larger, less comprehend able scales. This is gravity as we understand it to be.
Once again, as our knowledge and technology advances, our understanding of the universe and our reality as we know it changes parallel to it. For instance as we experiment and prod at the universe we live in, it gives us new and interesting incites into what was once unknowable. As new technology develops, it opens up new doors of possibilities in discovery which in turn, opens more doors. The island of knowledge ever expanding, yet never allowing the uncomprehending to be seen by the human force.
